Our Vision and History
Learn more about our Theological Education by Extension program.
Our Purpose
To provide solid, Lutheran biblical education for every lay leader in the Southern Zone, strengthening the church for witness and service.
TEE Southern Zone provides accessible theological training for church leaders and all believers who want to grow in faith and ministry. Our program enables students to study while continuing their daily responsibilities.
How We Began
Theological Education by Extension (TEE) was established to help the church train well-equipped leaders in theology without requiring them to leave their work and families.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT), Diocese of Iringa, has been at the forefront of providing this education to its members for many years. Today, TEE Southern Zone continues to serve hundreds of students each year.
Through partnerships with various dioceses in the Southern Zone, our program has expanded to reach believers across many areas of southern Tanzania.
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania
ELCT is the largest Lutheran church in Africa, with over 7 million members. The Diocese of Iringa, which oversees TEE Southern Zone, has a long history of providing theological education to its members.
Through TEE, the church can train many more leaders than would be possible through traditional seminaries, equipping believers with sufficient knowledge of Biblical teaching and church ministry.
